Pokéballs are the lifeblood of any Pokémon game. With a wide variety to choose from, players go to great lengths to get their best Pokémon in their favorite balls.
Imagine you have a Mewtwo inside a Luxury Ball. That will look a lot cooler than a Mewtwo in a Master Ball.
With that being said, Cobblemon is one of the more difficult games to catch Pokémon in. You should be utilising the best Pokéballs as they aren’t easy to get.
Each stack will cost you a ton of ingots and apricorns. With a massive selection to browse, it can be easy to waste resources on useless Pokéballs.
This list will be detailing the 10 best Pokéballs you should be crafting in Cobblemon.
I’ll also be going through the crafting recipes so you know how to pool your resources correctly. 🙂
10) Luxury Ball
Description: 1x catch rate. Pokémon caught in a Luxury Ball will gain Friendship twice as fast.
Recipe:
One of the best looking Pokéballs in the game in my humble opinion.
The Luxury Ball is a fairly difficult ball to craft en masse, but it looks amazing and has a useful effect.
Increasing friendship twice as fast is perfect for Pokémon that require friendship to evolve, such as Clefa, or Eevee.
If you’re like me, then you enjoy collecting all the various Pokémon. Luxury Balls save time by majorly increasing friendship gains, allowing you to fill your Pokédex faster!
9) Moon Ball
Description: Catch rate of 1x to 4x, depending on how full the moon is.
Recipe:
Simple enough, the Moon Ball is another complex ball to craft, but it has a very nice purpose.
Every night in Minecraft, the moon will rise, and then fall. Once it reaches its peak, you can use the Moon Ball with a solid 4x catch rate.
While many don’t see the Moon Ball as a piece of art aesthetically, it does fit very well with Dark, Ghost, or Poison-type Pokémon.
8) Friend Ball
Description: Catch rate of 1x, but caught Pokémon start with 200 friendship.
Recipe:
The lovely thing about Cobblemon is the way Pokémon evolve. Rather than meeting certain requirements and then levelling up, you can evolve your Pokémon as soon as the requirements are met.
If you use the Friend Ball to catch something like an Igglybuff, then you can instantly evolve it.
Again, this is another ball to help you quickly complete your Pokédex (when it gets added to Cobblemon). Aesthically, it’s also the perfect ball for Grass-type Pokémon!
7) Dive Ball
Description: Catch rate of 3.5× when used on Pokémon submerged underwater.
Recipe:
Plenty of powerful water-type Pokémon are found submerged underwater, and this cheap ball is one of the best choices for catching them!
As well as having a strong catch rate, the Dive Ball looks the part and fits water-type Pokémon perfectly.
A nice trick you can use is to push above-ground Pokémon into water. They will likely become submerged after a few seconds, so you can gain the benefits of this ball, even if they aren’t water-type.
6) Safari Ball
Description: Catch rate of 1.5× when used on a Pokémon outside of battle.
Recipe:
While the catch rate isn’t anything to write home about, the Safari Ball is amazing in Cobblemon for its usability.
Extremely cheap to produce, you can fling these out constantly as you traverse across the map. No need to spend time entering battle, simply lob a Safari Ball at a wild Pokémon.
I always bring a handful of Safari Balls on my adventures as I enter new biomes and discover new Pokémon. They really help to catch new critters without having to enter battles!
5) Great Ball
Description: Catch rate of 1.5x.
Recipe:
Relatively simple and easy to produce, Great Balls should be your go-to once you start getting lots of iron.
A decent base catch rate of 1.5x is great for those early stages where you’re trying to catch Pokémon of lower levels.
The blue and red appearance is pretty nice too, fitting well with many different Pokémon types.
4) Net Ball
Description: Catch rate of 3× when used on Bug or Water-type Pokémon.
Recipe:
One of the most versatile balls in the game, even if it has specific type requirements.
The Net Ball has a solid catch rate against Bug and Water-type Pokémon, helping you to flex your collecting skills when out hunting for new team members.
Appearance-wise, it’s also one of the coolest looking, with unique netting covering the top.
Of course, if you’re not interested in Bug or Water-type Pokémon, then this ball isn’t great for you.
With that being said, you’d want to skip ahead to the next 3 balls as you won’t need any others!
3) Ultra Ball
Description: 2x catch rate.
Recipe:
Ultra Balls are your bread and butter once you have a solid supply of gold.
No other Pokéball offers as much versatility, as it has a consistently good catch rate no matter the situation.
While black and yellow apricorns tend to be amongst the rarest, there is a simple trick you can use to gain unlimited apricorns.
2) Master Ball
Description: Always catches its target.
Recipe:
You only need to take a quick look at the crafting requirements to see how powerful the Master Ball is!
Such insane material costs are offset by a 100% catch rate on any Pokémon in the game.
Right now, the Master Ball isn’t super useful as you can use the other balls to catch the creatures you need.
However, you can install mods that add Legendary Pokémon, and this is where the Master Ball shines. Most community Cobblemon servers have these legendaries.
Simply putting out a Pokémon with a Master Ball will earn you the respect of your fellow players.
1) Quick Ball
Description: Catch rate of 5× on the first turn of battle.
Recipe:
While the Master Ball may have by far the highest catch rate in the game, Quick Balls are certainly the best Pokéball overall.
Why? Because they make your catching experience a lot easier.
Simply enter battle with a Pokémon, immediately throw a Quick Ball, and have a super high chance of catching it.
That’s it!
Of course, there’s no point using a Quick Ball if the Pokémon escapes the first time. That’s why you keep a nice stock of other balls in your inventory as well.
