In Township, it is important to grow crops as they are the basis for many other products that can be made in factories. Regularly sowing fields with crops allows you to gain more XP and make profits.

Crops like wheat are used in many recipes, such as bread, cookies, bagels, pizza, and potato bread.

Increasing the number of fields by purchasing them through the shop is crucial to maximizing crop yield and production. You can increase the tiles of fields they own by purchasing them from the farming category in the shop.

Overall, growing crops is essential to making progress in the game, obtaining XP, and producing goods for factories to create other products.

Return on Investment will be mentioned for each entry. This is simply the amount of money earned per crop sale.


10) Cacao

Return on Investment: 10

Cacao is a high-value crop, meaning it can be sold for a significant amount of coins.

It’s used to make chocolate, which is a popular product in Township. Chocolate can be sold for a high price, making it a profitable product to produce. Once you start producing chocolate, you unlock more products like Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Ice Cream, and Chocolate Cookies.

As well as this, each Cacao crop grants 19 XP per unit, which is higher than most other crops.

Growing Cacao adds variety to a player’s crop rotation, which can help prevent soil exhaustion and increase overall crop yield. Rotating crops can help maintain soil quality and prevent pests and diseases.


9) Peppers

Return on Investment: 14

Peppers have a high yield, meaning that players can harvest a large number of peppers from a single plot of land. This makes them an efficient crop to grow, as players can get a lot of raw materials for their factories without using up too much space.

Like the Cacao crop, Peppers also give 9 XP which is a pretty nice bonus. As well as this, Peppers are used to make a variety of products in Township, including Pizza, Sandwiches, and Spicy Sauce. These products are popular and can be sold for a high price, making peppers a profitable crop to produce.


8) Rubber Trees

Return on Investment: 14

Rubber Trees are one of the highest return on investment crops in the game, yet it is only unlocked at town level 29!

Once you do unlock it, you can start to produce items like Rubber, Plastic, and Glue. Which you can imagine is a serious advantage to your manufacturing efforts.


7) Strawberries

Return on Investment: 6

Available at town level 13, Strawberries are a good crop to invest in early on as they grow fairly quickly and are used for a myriad of recipes.

Each crop costs just 5 coins, and sells for 11, although it has a very low return per minute. Strawberries are well worth the investment though, purely for their contents in recipes.


6) Silk

Return on Investment: 13

One of the highest-selling items in the entire game, Silk is a nice mid-game resource available as early as town level 31.

Its best feature is the fact it grants a whopping 27xp per crop (!). This is crazy considering how fast it is produced.

However, silk is only used to make silk fabric so its production uses are quite low.


5) Wheat

Return on Investment: 1

Despite being the first available crop in Township, wheat has the highest profit per minute of any crop in the game (at 0.5).

It is used in recipes from the beginner level to level 100+ so will stay on your farm for the entirety of your playtime.

Many players may choose to move away from wheat as soon as they can but be aware, it’s still an amazing crop to grow.


4) Tomatoes

Return on Investment: 7

Just like in real life, tomatoes are an absolute necessity for many recipes. In Township, they also provide a nice return on investment for direct selling purposes.

Although they do take 2 hours to grow, this crop is available as early as town level 15 and will be the base of most recipes for your lengthy journey into reaching town level 100.


3) Carrots

Return on Investment: 3

Taking just 10 minutes to grow and providing a decent return on investment, carrots are another staple of any farmer’s land.

Available as early as town level 4, each unit guarantees a decent return on investment and low exp.

At later town levels, carrots are a staple of multiple dishes, such as Carrot Cake and Corn Soup. It’s even used to craft a Snowman!


2) Soybeans

Return on Investment: 7

You can only start growing soybeans when you reach a mighty town level of 90. So it’s quite a late game item, but one that’s well worth investing in as you get options for vegetarian items, such as Plant Milk and Tofu.

Additionally, a solid return on investment for the cost makes it an attractive crop choice, certainly one of the best in the game for late-game players.

Corn is certainly the best crop to grow in the game for multiple reasons.

It grows quickly and sells for a good amount of coin, you can keep it producing a steady income constantly.

Secondly, it’s an ingredient used in items that can be served in 7 different locations!
Such a variety is the lifeblood of any farmer’s income, and corn will be your go-to crop for the duration of your time in Township.
